Camy here, and I’m a bit cranky.
Why? Because I’m bombarded with commercials on new things to buy that I apparently need this year. It’s a bit like brainwashing—the more I see these commercials, the more I feel myself sucked into the mindset.
And don’t even get me started on the billions of toy commercials.
I know I should be focusing more on Christ rather than the chatter on TV and in magazines and on the web, but it’s very hard when the chatter is SO LOUD.
I have limited my TV watching this month because I can’t stand it. “Buy this DVD!” “Buy this diamond pendant!” “Buy this super-cool action figure who runs, laughs, and farts!”
But hiding isn’t really going to make the crankiness go away. I’ve been praying but can’t shake it. Maybe it’s spiritual warfare, Satan trying to steal away my joy in this fun, spiritual season of the year.
I’ve been distracting myself with nice, commercial-free audiobooks while I knit my various Christmas presents. The knitting actually calms me down a bit. Something about the repetitive motion, and then the satisfaction of a project completed.
Any books you recommend for a cranky knitter who’s fed up with the Christmas commercialism?

I'm sorry you are feeling like a crank this Christmas season. I have never listened to a Christian audio book to recommend, but I always enjoyed listening to Sue Grafton's alphabet mysteries while I cleaned the house, painted, or hiked. Maybe not what you are looking for, but her reader Judy Kaye is top notch. :)
Praying for a Merry Christmas

Yeah, this commericialism is getting to me too. We don't exchange gifts with family and haven't for quite a few years. We did that in attempt to get away from the commericialism and focus on the real reason for the season.
I've shut off the TV for the month of December. **just kidding** but I HAVE limited it. It gets me frustrated.
