Have you heard about
Twitter? A cyber community where members update their daily activities four, five, ten, twenty times a day?
It's the new rage. And I'm hooked. I love to Twitter and better yet, it goes to my Facebook so my "friends" are updated on my happy-go-lucky life.
As a writer, it's important to have a web presence. On Twitter, I connect with industry professionals like Thomas Nelson CEO, Mike Hyatt, literary agent, Chip MacGregor, promotion companies like Phenix and Phenix.
I also follow writer friends like Susan May Warren, Colleen Coble, Diann Hunt and Robin Lee Hatcher. Reviewers like RelzReviews are on Twitter. I feel like I get to say "hi" every day.
On his
blog, Mike Hyatt talks about building a brand, marketing and building a web presence.
But what if you're just a cyber junkie looking to hang out? You blog to keep up with your friends and family. Great, get on Twitter. Daily updates are fun and informative. But it's also a great place to be informed and make connections.
Case in point. I met Cheryl Smith on Twitter. She's a marketing specialist and trainer. We talk on the phone from time to time. She read one of my books and recommended it on her blog. Nice. And as time goes, I'll do what I can to help her. We're becoming friends and it started with a Tweet.
There are a few days when it can be overwhelming but mostly, it's fun and easy. Try it. You'll like it!
