So, I’m on this Lord of the Rings kick. I went to the library and checked out the audiobooks for the entire Lord of the Rings series, read by Rob Inglis. I’m in the middle of downloading it to my iPod so I can listen while I walk the dog.
One thing I love about this series is the cool characters. One of my favorite literary heartthrobs is Aragorn.
I mean, he’s introduced as a classic Bad Boy, Strider, a dark hooded figure who’s a little scary. And he turns out to be a king—how can you not like that?
And along the way, he shows his heroism and compassion. He’s dedicated to destroying the Ring, not taking it for himself, which shows his self-command and morality. And he’s handy with a sword.
(What is it about guys with blades? Love them! Just like chicks with guns—I love that, too!)
And he’s completely faithful to Arwen for years, even though her father didn’t want her to marry a mortal man. He waited until he could claim her. That’s the mark of a good husband!
I loved Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn. He’s got that lean face and figure, but kind eyes, which is how I’d picture Aragorn.
I love my husband, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes you just want to read about a man who can kill an orc and rescue a hobbit.

If you don't have the movies yet, they are worth the investment. Other favs? The Firefly series and the Serenity movie which is a spin off or continuation (whatever) of the t.v. show, Firefly. Also (this is not because your Asian but because I just finished watching it!lol)
Dae Jang Geum. I can hardly believe I got through the whole thing reading subtitles no less! I wanted her to be with the king and her love (not at the same time, though, that would have been weird!)I love talking about movies and t.v. but I'll spare you and stop there!
