My niece got married a year ago. She and her husband are of the yuppy crowd. Cute, smart, very techo-minded. In fact, so much so that she told me when she’s in a different room of their apartment, she text messages him.
“Please turn on the stereo.”
“Would you let the dog outside?”
“Want to eat out tonight?”
“Let’s go to the coffee shop.”
I laughed as she explained this to me and thought to myself what a different world we live in these days.
Then my thoughts turned to my walk with the Lord. Many days I send up “text messages” too. Nothing wrong with that, but just as a couple needs more meaningful conversation I want to make sure I spend quality time with my Lord as well.
There’s nothing like a moonlit stroll, sharing goals and dreams with the one you love. Same is true of my relationship with the Savior. The more time I spend with Him, the more I know Him, the more I grow in my spiritual journey.
The world changes so quickly, sometimes it leaves us breathless. In the midst of the chaos, may our passion for Christ remain constant.
