Okay, so I wanted to start the New Year off right with a fabulously stimulating, deeply spiritual, witty, yet oh-so-profound post that would inspire everyone who read it to glorious heights of creativity and deep introspection...
Unfortunately, I'm under the rainy weather with a stopped-up nose, sore throat, runny eyes and all the other attractive physical attributes that come with a yucky winter cold. Including the loss of coherent, cogent thinking ability.
So instead, if you don't mind, I'm going to go heat up some Campbell's chicken noodle soup, curl up under a warm quilt with my latest P.D. James (The Lighthouse) for as long as my runny eyes will let me read, and then take a nap. My brilliant and creative insights will have to wait 'til my next post.
What do you do when you're sick? To me, there's nothing better than curling up with a good English murder mystery. And James is a master of the genre.
Happy 2006! (I mean 2007! Told ya my mind's not working properly today.)
Laura Jensen Walker is the author of Reconstructing Natalie (Women of Faith Novel of the Year) Dreaming in Black & White and Dreaming in Technicolor. Her fourth novel, Miss Invisible, releases in March, 2007. Look for the first title in her new Paperback Girls chick lit series in Summer/Fall 2008.
Don't hate me, but when I'm sick, I write. (May explain a lot--lol) Seriously, I wrote the initial proposal for Chocolate Beach when I had a terrible flu. And yesterday, I got a ton of work done--and I have a cold. I realized that when I'm sick, I can only focus on one thing, and I choose writing (with lots of naps in between). You know, as opposed to housework :)
