I have to introduce you to my blessing. I had wanted a Boxer for a long time. A friend has had several and the more I'm around them the more I like them. I kept asking my husband if we could get one and he could never quite commit. I finally sat him down one night and said, "I really, really want a Boxer. Can we get one?" He told me he'd given it serious consideration but that he didn't think it would be a smart move financially for us right now. I was crushed but I agreed. We just didn't have the $800 or so that it would take to get one. So I left it at that, disappointed but knowing it was the smart thing to do.
A few days later I get a phone call from my neighbor who knows of someone in our neighborhood who has a 1 year old Boxer, fully trained and house broken, that they need to give to a good home. Their schedules weren't allowing them to be home enough. I asked how much they wanted and my neighbor said, "He's free! They just want a good home for him!" I couldn't believe it. He'd had his shots, been neutered, had toys and dog food and bowls...the list went on.
So I called my husband to ask what he thought. And he said, "I think this takes care of all my worries!" The next day we became the proud owners of Brodie, who fit into our family like he was born here. He adores the kids and comes up with the greatest games for them to play with him, keeps me company during the day when I'm writing, and loves hanging out with my husband on the couch at night.
I went to bed that night thinking how kind God is. He is so personal. He knows us so intimately and is able to give beyond our dreams. Not only was Brodie free, but he is also trained (he does all the tricks) and house broken (he has better manners than my kids!). We can actually go walking with him without a leash...that's how obedient he is. Maybe God's trying to drop a hint or two about my obedience?? Well, God did speak through a donkey so a Boxer is not out of the question.
Anyway, just had to share this experience. I am continually awed as I discover God in new and different ways. I know during hard times in my life, when the blessings don't seem to be flowing, I can look back on this and know that even if I can't feel God, He is there in the middle of my heart, holding all my big and small dreams in His hands.

I love stories like that. My first answered prayer came when I was in 2nd grade. I went to a Christian school, and everyday I prayed for a Precious Moments Bible during prayer requests. My teacher found a Precious Moments Bible that had been in the church's lost and found for a long time. She asked the pastor if she could give it to me. The coolest thing is that the Bible was brand new still in the box! God is so good.
